Knott's Berry Farm in California is located in Buena Park, in nearby Orange County. Knott's claims to be the America's first amusement park and it may well be! Started in the early 1940s by Walter Knott and now owned by the same company who made Cedar Point a national attraction, this theme park blends the humble beginnings of Knott's old fashioned theme park with the thrills and spills of the more modern Cedar Point.

The theme park is divided into 6 theme areas with some overlapping. These areas give visitors the experience of the Old West and Native American heritage, to the cartoon world of Snoopy and the gang to the more modern beach scene of Southern California beaches. It is a theme park that offers something for almost every one.

A visit to Knott's Berry Farm in California you can take a trip back in history with a visit to Ghost Town and Indian Trails. Ghost Town features a real ghost town made up from buildings that were relocated from mining towns throughout the west. Here you can experience stage coach rides, gun fights and even pan for gold. For those who get thirsty you can enjoy a sarsaparilla at the Calico Saloon. You can also be strapped into a mining car and ride on one the world's longest and tallest wooden roller coasters, The Ghost Rider.

After you are done riding, you can stroll along Indian Trails and peek inside authentic tipis, hogans and big houses or maybe even catch a Native American dance.

Families with small children can wander over to Camp Snoopy, where the kids can meet the characters from the Snoopy cartoons and enjoy a whole host of rides scaled down to be appropriate for the younger generation.

Kids have a choice of various rides from the Huff n Puff, which allows them to pump their own mining car, to the two roller coaster rides designed just for kids like the Timberline Twister and Woodstock Airmail to riding on a giant skateboard and everything in between.

Other theme areas include the Fiesta Village which offers food and rides with a Spanish flavor, Wild Water Wildness for those who want to experience a taste of white water rafting and the Boardwalk, which is lined with thrilling rides like Supreme Scream. Supreme Scream whips you on a 50 mile an hour ride up to the top of a 254-foot peak and then drops you just as rapidly down.

In all, Knott's Berry Farm in California offers over 165 rides, arcades, laser games, souvenir shopping, several eateries (including a restaurant featuring Cordelia Knott's world famous chicken and boysenberry pie) and a variety of shows and activities from line dancing to ice skating shows, to theater performances.

The sheer variety of the themed areas and kinds of entertainment makes visiting Knott's Berry Farm in California a unique experience.
