It takes a whole team of people to make this site what it is. We're a family of six, which doesn't count the various pets and friends that are traipsing through the house at any given time.
Learn more about us individually, as a family, and why we built this site.
Tom's our 12 year old and when he's not out on the back 40 shooting air soft rifles with his pals, he's working on his school work or making us laugh. Here's what Tom's got to say for himself:
My name is Tom and I am very athletic. I enjoy long-distance running, swimming, lacrosse and climbing/hiking. When I grow up, I want to graduate from MIT and the Air Force Academy. After serving my time, I want to climb Mount Everest, explore ice caves in Antarctica and settle down as a lawyer somewhere in Europe.
When asked where Tom wants to go next on holiday, he said: Antarctica, Nepal, Tibet or Rome.
At seven, Will's had more visits to the ER than the rest of our kids put together. He's a great reader, is crazy for bike riding, and is a sweet, sweet little boy. In Will's own words:
My name is William. I like vacations. My favorite is the time when we went to Canada. On Saturdays, I usually play in front or ride my bike. I have an awesome ride. My friends are cool. My life is awesome. I love life so badly.
Will's next vacation trip: I want to go to the North Pole or Great Britain.
As the baby of the family, Mike's got his work cut out for him. He keeps himself busy with attending preschool, playing Lego Indiana Jones, and being an all-around cutie pie.
I like video games. I like to play outside and play Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Cereal is my favorite food.
Mike's buttering up Daddy with his next dream holiday: Canada to see Uncle Andrew, Aunt Kelly and Esme Super baby.
Caitlin is our oldest. While we would have loved to have called this site "3 boys and a Big Sister in San Diego," Miss Cait is a working, college girl studying culinary arts and has little time for our shenanigans. Besides awesome pastry skills, she's also a rat-lover with an awesome sense of humor. When she agrees to be dragged along for the ride, she'll be our Guest Commenter.
What her brothers have to say: Sissy likes to go to the smoothie shop, hit up the movies, play House of the Dead and hang out with Jason.
For her next vacation, Cait wants to go to: Open to suggestions.
Dad, aka John, comes from Canada and brings a passion for travel and the outdoors to this site. He knows a lot about being active and he loves to share the world with his family. When he's not herding kids or working hard, he's often found with a motorcycle magazine in his hand and "Top Gear" on the tube.
I'm the patriarch of the family, so likely the one that's listened to least in the household. Not really, but as a father with three boys, finding the right activities can be difficult. With an age range of eight years, plus two parents, means we've whittled down the places we visit in San Diego to locales where all of us have a good time and the complaining is kept to a minimum.
Navigating this site, you'll find some activities that are physical in nature: cycling, climbing, paddling, etc. These are the kinds of activities I prefer to partake of during the weekend and while on vacation. Fortunately, my wife balances this out with cultural activities that give us and the children a good balance.
Where's Dad want to go on his next trip? Italy. Where else?
Mom says the trip next on her to-do list is: Europe for my 40th birthday. A glass of wine in Venice or driving the Romantic Road through Germany will soften the blow tremendously.
