What Will You Do First?


The great thing about San Diego is you can vacation here even if you are on a budget. There are so many things to do that do not cost money. Haven't you always wanted to visit an Olympic Training Center? Take the kids for a tour of this 150-acre facility.

Summer concerts abound throughout the county so you are sure to catch a couple. This is a great idea for the whole family. Take a picnic and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the warm weather and the time you are spending together.

Of course, the San Diego beaches are always available and with 33 from which to choose, you will have a blast swimming, boogie boarding, looking for seashells and playing in the sand. If you have always wanted to build a sandcastle, this is a great project for the kids. The warm San Diego sun is waiting for you to enjoy no matter which beach you choose.

Looking for more San Diego attractions? Take a walk on the longest pier on the West Coast, the Oceanside Municipal Pier. You can grab your fishing gear and see what you can catch. Walk the pier that extends 1,942 feet out and enjoy the waves.

No visit would be complete without a walk through one of the most historic areas of San Diego. The Gaslamp Quarters has many historic aspects as this was once where Wyatt Earp spent much of his time. With museums, galleries and the Horton Grand Theatre, this 16 ½ block area brimming with history is a must-see.

Seaport Village is a weekend destination with fourteen acres of the coast waiting for you to enjoy. Watch the ships and yachts passing by and enjoy the music while deciding which of the 17 restaurants you will choose for dinner. With many shops you may find a couple of souvenirs to take home.

Mission Bay Park is another option. This is a 4600 acre park with options for the family and best of all - they are free. From the volleyball courts to children's play spots and the pathways that are great for rollerblading a fun time will definitely be had here. There are also barbecues available and 27 miles of shoreline to explore.

Take the kids to the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. This is an awesome activity on the first Wednesday of the month. The San Diego Astronomy Association sets up telescopes and the view of the stars, moon and planets is spectacular. The kids will love checking out the universe that surrounds us and you will as well.

There are tons of things to do and plenty of San Diego attractions if this wonderful city is going to be your vacation getaway. This is a beautiful city and the time spent here will be a very memorable vacation for you as well as your children. Remember to bring the camera so you can preserve those memories.
