Trust me; kids will LOVE scooting around town on the San Diego trolley. It's a great way to experience the city at a slower pace and you can hit many of the major attractions, too.
Most Southern California cities aren't known for their public transportation. But the San Diego trolley, along with the Coaster, and some great walking shoes, can help you cover a lot of ground during your stay.
San Diego is not only one of the most amazing cities in Southern California, it's also one of the first towns ever established in the state. Since that time, the town has become a place of art, education, history, and so much more. Due to all the wonderful sites of the city, it can be hard to see everything in one visit. However, this can be a little easier when taking in the sights from the side of the trolley.
The trolley system consists of three color-coded lines; blue, orange, and green. Combined, these lines cover more than 50 miles of San Diego and the surrounding areas. The Green line covers sites such as Fashion Valley, Mission Valley, and historic Old Town. The Blue line runs from downtown San Diego south down to Imperial Beach and the Orange line runs from places such as the Convention Center and up to Gillespie Field in El Cajon.
The trolley system also works to bring visitors to special events throughout the city. For football and baseball games held at Qualcomm Stadium, riders need to use the Green line. Events held at Petco Park, where the San Diego Padres play, can be accessed from either the Blue line or the Orange line.
Another attribute of the trolley system is that they are wheelchair accessible. Each trolley comes equipped with mechanical lifts, allowing anyone and everyone a chance to visit all the sights of San Diego. Fares for using the trolley can be purchased for a single use, day passes, or even in 3 or 4 day passes. They offer reduced prices for senior citizens and the disabled.
If you've never been to the San Diego area, and need to get from one place to another, don't despair. With the San Diego Trolley system, you can get to everything in no time at all, without worrying about getting lost. If you want to see the city without the worry, you're going to love the trolley. It's a ride to remember.
