Even after many years and trips to the San Diego Zoo, this park is still a great day out for our family. And we bet you and your family will fall in love with it, too. There are often new exhibits to explore and new animals to discover. Even if you're here just for a few days or didn't bring the kids, this Zoo is a must for any visitor.
Sitting on 100 acres of land, this is one of the largest zoos in the United States, and is home to thousands of animals, including some extremely rare and highly endangered species. The zoo is also home to an incredible botanical collection, with more than 700,000 exotic plants on site.
The San Diego Zoo houses some of the world's most exotic mammals, such as the Binturong, which is native to Southeast Asia. There is also an amazing aviary and the zoo has been working to breed and reintroduce several breeds of bird to their native habitats, including the California Condor and the Hawaiian Maui Parrotbill.
When visiting the zoo, there are different ways to enjoy the many different exhibits. For instance, you can take the guided bus tour, which offers tours spoken in English, Spanish, and French. They also offer bus tours for the hearing impaired. For the more daring spectators, there is always the Skyfari sky tram that will allow you to see the entire park high above the tree tops.
The 3 Boys In San Diego Family Say You've Got to See:
The Zoological Society of San Diego was formed in 1916 by Dr. Wegeforth, and currently holds the largest zoological membership in the world with more than half a million memberships. Members can visit the zoo free of charge, and save money in many of the zoo's other attractions such as the gift shop and special events.
If you're planning a trip to the San Diego area, make sure to set aside a day to visit the San Diego Zoo. It's a treat that will be enjoyed by the entire family, and you'll have a chance to see plants and animals you never knew existed.
