Specially designed to introduce children of all ages to the incredible wonders of the sea, Legoland's Sea Life Aquarium in Carlsbad provides the ultimate oceanic experience. With a host of interactive activities to engage in, plenty of fun facts to learn, and multiple play zones to explore, visitors are transported to another world the entire family will be sure to enjoy.
At the Sea Life Aquarium, the focus is on journeying throughout the ocean's depths, exploring the many creatures who make their homes there and discovering new things all while having fun. The Sea Life center is specifically designed with children and their way of understanding in mind, with hands-on experiences and interactive, educational presentations that provide kids with a unique way of learning about a wide variety of sea creatures.
After entering the park, head to the Gold Rush River or the Surf Break exhibit where you'll meet sea life who thrive in rough waters and soon be surrounded by the sights, smells, and sounds of the ocean. Then, in the center of the aquarium is the Lost City of Atlantis where you'll have the opportunity to explore Poseidon's vast underwater kingdom that holds more than an astonishing 200,000 gallons of saltwater.
Here in the coral encrusted city you'll make your way through a 35 foot long clear, acrylic tunnel where you'll have up close and personal encounters with an array of sea life while watching Lego's divers explore in an 11 foot submarine navigating through schools of tropical fish, majestic sharks, and stingrays.
The aquarium is also home to the Ocean Journey Café, a family style restaurant that features fresh, locally grown foods with simple yet delicious items on the menu like tacos and pastas. After eating, the kids will be able to build their own coral reefs out of Lego bricks before heading off to yet another exciting section of the park.
At the Shipwreck exhibit you'll be fascinated again by another ancient ruin, a century's old ship that has crashed against a colorful coral reef and become home to a host of interesting creatures. Next, head over to the San Francisco Harbor and get to know all of the sea life living beyond the shores of the Golden Gate City where you will meet a giant Pacific octopus as well as native marine life like the leopard shark as well as a number of different fish and rays.
Also be sure to see the new exhibit, Sharks Revealed, where children will learn all about these interesting but often misunderstood mammoths of the deep. And, for a truly hands-on experience, visit Southern California Tide Pool, an interactive play zone where the kids will have the chance to shake hands with some of the "stars" of the aquarium.
Finally, sit back, relax, and take in a short film at the aquarium's movie themed Theatre where you will learn even more about the various marine life that lives in the Earth's seas and oceans. Before leaving for the day, you may want to visit the Sea Life Gift Shop for ocean-themed keepsakes and souvenirs ranging from adorable plush sea creatures to beautiful jewelry to educational and information books and DVDs to remember your amazing adventure at Legoland California's Sea Life Aquarium.
