One of the most popular attractions for those visiting Southern California is Sea World San Diego. Sitting on 200 acres, Sea World is an amazing mix of water, rides, and of course, Shamu, the world famous killer whale. Sea World San Diego is open year round, and has had more than 80 million visitors come through their gates since it opened.

Tips for a Day:

  • Sunscreen and hats are a must for kids. It can get quite warm and sunny here, especially when you arrive early and wait for a show to start.
  • Food is not allowed inside the park, but you can bring a picnic lunch to enjoy outside the gates. Lockers are available for rent, if necessary.
  • Pet kennels are available for boarding Fido during your visit.
  • You may get wet during some shows, so come prepared or make a point to sit away from the Soak Zone.
  • Sea World San Diego has many special events, like Dine with Shamu and swim with the dolphins. Book in advance online so you don't miss thess once-in-a-lifetime opportunities!

When going to Sea World, the first thing most people look forward to is the water shows. Shamu and his gang of killer whales, along with a whole host of beautiful dolphin, top the headlining acts each day. But, there is a whole lot more to do and see, than that. There are also trained seals and sea lions, and a whole show of trained dogs doing some very amazing tricks.

Throughout the year, Sea World San Diego holds special dining events. Four times a year, you can come in and share a meal with the whole family while hanging out with Shamu. Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, and Mother’s Day are all set aside to allow the family an extra special experience.

The 3 Boys in San Diego Family Say Don't Miss:

  • Shark Encounter, where you get up close and personal with these amazing creatures.
  • The Wild Arctic. Both a ride and an exhibit. We love the beluga whales.
  • Meal times, where you get to feed the animals, like dolphins and sea otters. Beware of seagulls, though! They're always eyeing the snacks and won't hesitate to try snatching a free treat.
  • Tide pools, where you can touch sea life with your own hands.

What most people don’t realize is that Sea World also offers tons of cool rides in their theme park. If you’re really into roller coasters, you’re going to love Journey To Atlantis. This ride is a mix of roller coaster and water ride, all rolled into one. For the littler members of the group, check out the Sesame Street rides. They’re sure to love Elmo’s Flying Fish and Oscar’s Rocking Eel.

As an extra bonus, Sea World has a great adventure camp program for kids of all ages. They’ll get a chance to see how the animals are cared for, trained, and what it takes to keep this amazing showplace running. Sea World offers day camps and overnight camps. Best of all, Sea World camps are accredited and meet more than 300 various quality standards.

If you’re going to be in or around Southern California, you’ve got to check out Sea World San Diego. Whether on business or pleasure, with the whole family or a romantic getaway, this is one trip you’re sure to remember for many years to come.
