Question: I am planning a trip to Southern California with my two kids. I have planned everything. What are the precautions I have to take especially in this swine flu season?
Answer: Most of us are more cautious now that H1N1 (swine flu) is floating around, especially those of us traveling with kids.
At this point, traveling via airplane isn't much of a concern, especially since you're staying within the US. H1N1 is not an airborne virus so don't worry about breathing in "bad" air on the plane.
Just as you would at home, take extra precautions with frequent hand washing and using hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol when washrooms aren't readily available. Stay away from obviously sick people and keep tissues handy in case your children sneeze or cough.
Consider having your kids vaccinated, too, before your trip, if it's available in your area.
