Vacation Rental in San Diego

Hi, looking to travel with 7yo, 9yo over Spring Break in March. definitely planning on Legoland. We are interested in a vacation rental, but where/neighborhood to even start looking for place to rent? Thanks!

Hi Kristin!

Sounds like you have a wonderful vacation planned!

I think your best bets for vacation rental would be anywhere along the coast, from Mission Beach area up north to Carlsbad, where Legoland is located.

The San Diego beach neighborhoods (Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach, Mission Bay) are perfectly located for trips to Sea World, the Zoo and downtown. Downside is that these are very urban areas, so traffic in and out (plus finding parking!) can be tough. These beach communities have a fun, funky vibe with lots of neat shops and restaurants to explore.

Moving north, you can't go wrong with La Jolla, Del Mar/Solana Beach, Encinitas or Carlsbad. Though not in the city of San Diego, each of these towns is close to I-5, which makes for easy access to all the fun stuff in the "big city." Because they're more suburban towns, it's a bit easier to get around, with fewer people.

My preference would be La Jolla or Carlsbad, as they also have the draw of a neat downtown area with good restaurants, too.

Hope that helps!
